Eric Nakassa is an American furniture designer and musician based in Brooklyn, NY. Born in Tokyo and raised in the suburbs of Seattle, he received his Bachelor of Design in Industrial Design from the University of Washington in 2020. Shortly after graduating, he moved to New York City, where he began his career at Atelier Jouffre in Long Island City before joining Studio Giancarlo Valle in 2022. He is currently a furniture designer at In Common With.
His independent design practice explores the interplay of minimalism and the decorative arts, producing furniture and objects that emerge from subtle modifications and combinations of simple forms. Through a focused material sensibility and a restrained aesthetic, his work investigates how elemental shapes can be reimagined to create pieces that are both quiet and expressive.
